Thank you to Anita Lambe who sent in these "vintage" photos of vaulting with Ballystockart group.
Anita says "There has been a lot of talk recently about vaulting and as Ballystockart did it many,many years ago I thought you might like these photos from then. Radar is the horse they practiced on before getting on the real one. The child standing on the pony's back!! Can you imagine being allowed to do this nowadays with health and safety?".
Fellow group member Joyce Dunlop adds, "There is so much talk these days about health and safety and the ‘compensation culture,’ that I personally think it’s good to look back on what we did in the old days ! I suppose some people now would think we took risks then, but our riders had so much fun! It’s just the way we did things way back 40+ years ago and no one complained about how we operated or questioned our capabilities. We were always aware of our riders safety and took great care that no one was put in a dangerous position or made to do anything risky."
